After PUBG Mobile was banned in India, South Korean game developer Krafton made a comeback in the Indian market a year later by relaunching the same game with some changes and naming it Battlegrounds Mobile India, aka BGMI.
And in a short span of time, it has emerged as one of the most popular battle royale games in India. However, its journey has not been ideal.
PUBG Mobile was initially banned by the Government of India for security reasons. But it seems that now BGMI is banned in India as well. And in the last few hours, it has also been removed from the Google Play Store and App Store.
Is BGMI banned in India?
Removal of the BGMI game from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store has everyone wondering if the game has been banned by the government again.
However, there is no official statement from the IT Ministry yet. And some sources said Krafton India also confirmed the development, adding that, “We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from the Google Play store and the App store and will let you know once we get specific information.”
And as only a few hours have passed since the game was removed. Maybe it could also be due to some glitch. So, gamers should just wait for at least a few more hours for any clarification and not jump to any conclusion.
Update: Google has recently released a statement:
“On receipt of the order, following the established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India”
said Google in a statement
BGMI’s removal from the Play Store & App Store
The removal of BGMI from the Google Play Store has left users stunned. Whenever someone tries to search for the game or access it through the app download link, the app is not found on the server, otherwise an error notice is presented.
However, users on the Android platform still have the option of downloading the game on their own devices using the APK, which the developers started offering only a few days back.
