Armor transmog is a key aspect of World of Warcraft as it allows players to distinguish themselves in a personal way. Many armor sets are exclusive to certain types of content, whether from a dungeon, raid, or PvP. In the game, there are sets of armor for each race called Heritage sets, which bear significance in the many cultures present in Azeroth. We will talk about the lore of each Heritage set and how important they are to the overall lore. The quests for the armor set are relatively short, which saves the need for a WoW boosting service, but they offer a lot of narrative for players who like a good story. Each heritage quest requires a player of their chosen race to be at level 50. The end of each quest not only rewards armor, but also a nice sum of easy and cheap WoW gold for players who take the time.
Lion’s Heritage Human Armor
Starting with the Lion’s Heritage armor, this set is exclusive to the Human race and is based on the iconic Warcraft Footman unit. In the questline for this armor, the Defias Brotherhood has started a conspiracy against the Kingdom of Stormwind. This is largely in part to its long-standing grudge with the city after the Stonemason’s Guild rebuilt Stormwind following its destruction by the Horde.
The plot to overthrow Stormwind was a plan made by Onyxia to sow discord in the city. Ultimately, Human players work with the leader of the SI:7 agency, Mathias Shaw, to thwart the Defias Brotherhood’s plans. This armor set is granted as a reward for saving the city while also being granted the title of Lionguard, hence the name of the armor “Lion’s Heritage.”
Heritage of Draenor Orc Armor
This armor set is granted to Orc players for helping in reviving the Kosh’harg festival. The Kosh’harg is an event where all the different Orc clans come together to build better relations with one another. This tradition died out when the Old Horde rose to power before the First War. Now, with Thrall leading the current Horde, the Orcs are looking to bring back their old traditions, including the Kosh’harg.
Players must go through an om’gora, where they must assemble the many Orc clans and provide a feast for the ancestor spirits in order to gain their blessings. Once the rite is concluded, the Kosh’harg festival will begin, and many famous Orcs in history will come together in this time of kinship, including the spirits of Varok Saurfang, Garrosh Hellscream, and Durotan. The armor set has different color variations, representing the Warsong clan, Frostwolf clan, and Blackrock clan.
Heritage of the Kaldorei Night Elf Armor
The Night Elves are tied directly to the tree Teldrassil and the forests that surround it. When corruption reaches the forest, the Night Elves must stem and stop it before it spreads to Teldrassil. To this end, Night Elf players must work with Tyrande, Maiev, and the Sentinels to investigate the source of this blight.
In this questline, players will realize that the source of the corruption is demonic in nature. The moonwell is infested with the corpses of Satyr fell demons. The true culprit behind this corruption is a Nathrezim named Lord Hel’nurath. The rest of the fell demons are found in the Shadow Hold near Darnassus, which must be cleared out.
Once the Shadow Hold is cleared and Lord Hel’nurath slain, the player will earn the title of Ama’shan and be granted the Heritage of the Kaldorei armor set for their efforts in keeping Teldrassil safe.
Heritage of the Shu’halo Tauren Armor
The Tauren, or the Shu’halo in their tongue, are a deeply spiritual race with ties to their ancestors and the Earth Mother. In this questline, the Tauren sense an imbalance in the spirit realm where they reside. Baine Bloodhoof, chieftain of Thunder Bluff, tasks the player with finding out the source of the disturbance. The player walks through the spirit realm and finds undead wraiths invading both the spirit and material plane. Here, Cairne Bloodhoof, father of Baine, aids the player in driving them out of their lands.
After returning, Bloodhoof Village is attacked by the restless undead spirits, who are eventually defeated by the player and Baine, along with the many Tauren ancestors that come to assist the player. After saving Thunder Bluff, the player is honored among the tribe and receives the Heritage of the Shu’halo armor as a gift for paying respects to the ancestor spirits.
Heritage of the Bronzebeard Dwarf Armor
The Dwarves are known for their supreme craftsmanship and metal forging, even naming their capital city Ironforge. The quest for this armor starts when the player finds a Dwarven Tablet with the only readable word on it being: “Aegrim.” Taking it to Brann Bronzebeard reveals that the tablet contains instructions on how to forge the Bulwark of the Mountain King, previously worn by Brann’s ancestor, Aegrim Bronzebeard. The Mountain Kings were the strongest and most elite Dwarven warriors in the alliance, wielding enchanted weapons and armor that gave them an edge in battle. Much of the story is bound to the forging of this armor, with the player encountering hardships along the way.
First, they will need to enlist the aid of Ignis, the Furnace Master, and Bouldercrag, the Rockshaper. Since the forging process requires intense heat, the player will need to have stone skin like Bouldercrag to withstand the temperature, as the shards of the armor must be held by hand.
Once the armor is forged and the knowledge to recreate it restored, the Dwarf player is deemed worthy to be the first to wear it for restoring a piece of Dwarven heritage.
Heritage of Kezan Goblin Armor
The Goblins love tinkering with machines, gadgets, and even profits if they are cunning enough. The Heritage of Kezan armor is an invention of Hobart Grapplehammer, whose schematics and contracts are stolen by Jastor Gallywix, leader of the Bilgewater Cartel. Before taking the fight to Gallywix, Hobart will have to conduct some experiments to ensure the armor’s functionality is perfected. After the first round of testing, the armor will need more materials to refine the suit.
Once the armor is assembled, Gallywix will return and threaten to make the player disappear for meddling in his affairs. Hobart will then try to sell the armor in his own auction house to the highest bidder, but not before he is kidnapped by Gallywix and taken hostage in the town of Crapopolis. Once the player rescues Hobart and dons the suit, they then face off with Gallywix, who is piloting his own mech.
The Heritage of Kezan armor is Hobart’s payment for services rendered and for defeating Gallywix.
Heritage of Gnomeregan Gnome Armor
Like the Goblins, the Gnomes are some of Azeroth’s most brilliant inventors and staunch allies of the Dwarves of Khaz Modan. Gnomeregan was the former capital city of the Gnomes until it was destroyed by the Troggs.
The Heritage of Gnomeregan is the official uniform of the Gnomish Elite Aerial Rangers and is reserved only for members of their ranks. The main objective of this questline is to have the player take the fight to the Troggs and reclaim Gnomeregan. To start the assault, the G.E.A.R will need a prototype arcane engine to get their aircraft moving. Then, they will need to slay a few Troggs to secure the area near the airstrip. With that done, the operation on Gnomeregan begins.
Along with the G.E.A.R taskforce, players must take on and defeat Telzo Sparkspanner, one of the traitors that led to the downfall of Gnomeregan. After taking down Telzo, the player will be given the official G.E.A.R armor or the Heritage of Gnomeregan set.
Heritage of Lordaeron Undead Armor
The Forsaken are former undead slaves who once served the Lich King during his rise to power. They were eventually given free will after Sylvanas Windrunner broke the Lich King’s control over her. Now, these Forsaken undead inhabit the ruins of Lordaeron and have allied themselves with the Horde.
The questline for this armor involves the Forsaken facing off against the fanatical Scarlet Crusade organization. The Forsaken player is tasked by the Commander to take the fight to the Scarlet Crusade at one of their strongholds on Fenris Isle. First, a Scarlet Crusade attire must be acquired to infiltrate the island and enact some sabotage on the base. Then, the player must assassinate some key archmages among their ranks.
After enough sabotage has been had, the full force of the Forsaken make their assault on Fenris Islewith Scarlet Commander Forsythe making his appearance on the field. Lilian Voss, former Scarlet Crusade member now made Forsaken, will also join you in the assault.
After slaying Forsythe, the Forsaken player is rewarded the Heritage of Lordaeron for keeping the Forsaken safe and secure.
Heritage of Gilneas Worgen Armor
The Worgen are the denizens of Gilneas who currently suffer from a curse that transforms them into feral werewolves that hunt and kill any prey in sight. In this questline, the Worgen curse has already been somewhat mitigated, allowing the afflicted to maintain their sanity after the transformation.
Princess Tess Greymane, daughter of the King and Queen of Gilneas, wants to understand and share the plight of the Worgen curse with her people, but her family forbids it. Instead, she and the player look for an alternate way to better sympathize with the Worgen. To do that, Tess will need to enter the Emerald Dream and experience the rage and madness of the Worgen.
The player and Tess begin communing with the ancient wolf spirit Goldrinn, who brings Tess to slumber and tasks the player to guide her throughout the Emerald Dream. The dream shows Tess and the player the day Gilneas was attacked by the Forsaken, allowing her to experience the Worgen curse for herself. She relives the moment when she loses her brother, which then causes her to give into the Worgen rage. After the player incapacitates her, Tess wakes up and returns to the capital to formally thank the them and bestow the Heritage of Gilneas set along with the title of Greyguard as rewards.
Heritage of the Sin’dorei Blood Elf Armor
The Blood Elves earned their name after the Scourge attacked their homeland of Quel’Thalas and massacred more than half of their population. The Lich King used this invasion to access the Sunwell and used the magical energy in it to revive Kel’Thuzad. The Blood Elves have since fought and died in the name of the Horde to take down the Scourge.
Blood Elf players can start the story by speaking to Lor’themar, Regent of Quel’Thalas, as they experience firsthand the fall of Quel’Thalas and the subsequent sacrifices that the High Elves had to make at the time. Blood Elf players must also relive the battles that ensued with Arthas’ assault, Sylvanas’ fall, and the rise of Kael’thas Sunstrider.
After having seen the fall of Qual’Thalas, the Blood Elf player is called upon by Lor’Themar to remember their history and rise above the tragedy that befell them, giving them the Heritage of the Sin’dorei armor set as a reward.
